Vicarage Lane

Welcome to working as a GP in Stratford

In a bustling and multicultural city setting, getting ready for the 2012 Olympics, Vicarage Lane Health Centre is open 365 days a year from 8.00am to 8.00pm. As part of a diverse population, the local people are friendly and appreciative of their healthcare. Although over 200 languages are spoken in the borough, we have an efficient interpreter and advocacy service on site to help communicate effectively, available at short notice. We offer a flexible approach to working days and contracted hours.

The full time rota is based on nine sessions, one of which is for CPD (that's a total of 37.5 hours per week or 150 hours per month). Some GPs like to work a longer session with days off and some prefer working discrete sessions. Usually we can accommodate both approaches.

CPD

We have weekly clinical meetings to review cases, prescribing matters, general clinical governance issues and developments in the service. We regularly invite speakers to our meetings and will provide training when required. The Vicarage Lane team is multidisciplinary and we take a proactive approach to the healthcare needs of the population we serve. The clinical meetings are included in GP contracted working hours as part of our commitment to professional development.

Registered and Walk-In Sessions

We cover both registered patients and patients who are not registered with the practice as part of the walk-in service. For routine problems the walk-in offers a  “first come, first served basis”. Urgent cases are seen as a priority. The appointment system is a closed system, which means that we do not add extra appointments at the end of the clinic session.
