What can you expect from your nurse?

Our practice nurses are highly qualified nurses who can help you with everything from long-term management of chronic diseases to health promotion and screening. 

  • Asthma & Diabetes
    Monitoring asthma and diabetes to prevent complication and optimise medication.
  • Child Health
    Monitoring child development and administering vaccination and immunisations including MMR2.
  • Chronic Disease Management
    We offer management for hypertension, stroke, asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Coronary Heart Disease. 
  • Contraception
    We can provide you with the full range of contraception, including free condoms and the morning-after pill, as well as offering general sexual health advice, Chlamydia testing and cervical screening. 
  • Ear Care
    We offer ear syringing to unblock wax and advise about preventing ear problems.
  • Pregnancy Tests
    We offer free pregnancy tests.
  • Prevention of Heart Disease
    All patients with heart disease will receive annual monitoring. We provide ECG testing for 24/48 hours or 7 days and anticoagulation.
  • Sexual Health Advice
    General sexual health advice and cervical screening and STD testing.
  • Smoking Cessation Advice
    The nurse is available to give advice about smoking cessation.
  • Vaccinations and Immunisations
    Child immunisations including immunisations for babies. We also do travel vaccinations, but please ensure that you have your vaccinations at least four weeks prior to travel.
  • Wound Care
    Stitch and suture removal and general advice to optimise healing.


What can you expect from your health care assistant?

Working under the supervision of a qualified nurse, your health care assistant can perform health assessments and advise you about healthy lifestyle. Our health care assistant is also actively involved in community outreach.

  • Bloods
    Routine blood tests.
  • Cholesterol Checking
    We offer routine monitoring and a test to those with a family history of raised cholesterol.
  • Health Assessment
    We offer Well Woman and Well Man clinics and blood pressure checks.
  • Ophthalmology
    We offer visual field tests to determine whether the visual field is affected by diseases that cause loss of vision. 
  • Smoking Cessation Advice
    Offering practical support about giving up smoking.
  • Weight / Diet
    Providing advice on diet and exercise. If necessary you will be referred to the dietician.
  • Wound Dressings
    We can replace dressings and provide general advice and care to optimise healing.
